Free Energy and Indoor Air Quality Software

A variety of software related to energy analysis or indoor air quality is available on this page.  This is "Freeware"; no payment for use of the software is expected.  If you have any ideas for software you'd like to see here, please e-mail us at info@energytools.com

DOE-Approved Refrigerator Replacement Audit Tool (12 KB)
This audit tool calculates the cost-effectiveness of replacing a refrigerator with a more energy-efficient model.  Weatherization providers are required to use a DOE-approved audit tool when replacing refrigerators.  This tool satisfies DOE's requirement.
Economics of Energy Efficiency (15 KB)
This online calculator helps to analyze the economic benefits and costs of an energy efficiency measure.  The software calculates the "internal rate of return" and the "net present value" of an efficiency measure.  These terms are explained more completely on the calculator page.  Just click the link above to begin using the calculator.
Indoor Humidity Model (107 KB)
This model calculates the relative humidity in a house if you know outdoor conditions, the air exchange rate between the home and the outdoors, and the moisture release rate in the home.  It is useful for showing how ventilation or reduction in moisture release can control humidity levels.  The model is built in Microsoft Excel (version 5, 95, or 97).  If a dialog box is displayed after clicking the hyperlink, save the file to your computer.  Run the model by opening the file from Excel or a compatible spreadsheet program.
Garage to House Pollutant Transfer Model (135 KB)
